Consumer Research

Q: What is Consumer Research?
A: Consumer research is a kind of applied sociology that concentrates on understanding the preferences, attitudes, and behaviors of people towards the products and services that are marketed to them.

It helps companies around the world develop and improve the products and services they offer, design new ideas and concepts, test their marketing material (ads, newsletter, website, etc.), and make the right business decisions to satisfy their customers' needs.

To help them in their decision-making process, companies recruit marketing research firms that collect and analyze relevant, accurate and reliable consumer information.

Q: What is an online panel?
A: An online (access) panel is a group of registered Internet users, who have agreed to take part in market research surveys and studies on a regular basis.

Q: What is the purpose of the panel?
A: By understanding people's reactions and perceptions of their products and services, businesses can improve them and make your everyday life better.

Q: What is a focus group?
A: A focus group is an interactive and lively discussion moderated by at least one individual, and gathering usually 8-10 people with similar tastes or interests around the table. Some marketing research firms hold this discussion in specific facilities; we hold it online on a specific secure platform. Online focus groups, in the forum format, are also called bulletin board focus groups (BBFG).

Q: Why should I participate in surveys?
A: Giving your opinion and feedbacks about products and services help companies make decisions on product development and marketing. By participating in surveys, you can have an influence over the products you are using everyday, the services offered to you, and advertisements you see on TV, in the press, or on the Internet.

Q: Why do you want my opinion?
A: Each individual perspective is unique, hence valuable to us. Taking surveys is the best way to voice this very unique opinion and make it heard to manufacturers and marketers.

A: In addition to the profile information about your household that we ask you to provide upon registration, we may ask you for further personal information during specific surveys. Q: Why do you ask questions such as age, gender, income, etc.? Don't you have this on file?
A: We need this information for mainly 3 reasons: we want to make sure our panel is well-balanced, and represents each age group, profession, geographic area, etc.; we want to match you with the most appropriate surveys; sometimes, we need to recruit panelists with specific characteristics to satisfy our clients' requirements.

Q: I cannot open the link in the invite email you sent me. What should I do?
